ACTIVITIES TO ENJOY OUTSIDE PINOS PLAYA

Round-Island Excursion This is a full day excursion. Departure from Pinos Playa with a bus, arriving at Inca where you visit a leather factory before going on to Sa Calobra which is the mouth of the Torrente de Pareis, the deepest torrent from Mallorca. From there you go by boat to Puerto de Soller where you catch the old and pittoresque train to Palma. Return from Palma to the Pinos Playa with a bus. Formentor Excursion This is a full day excursion. Departure from the Pinos Playa with a bus in the direction of Sineu where there will be a stop for one and half hours to go shopping at the market before going to Puerto de Pollença to take a boat trip to Cabo Formentor through some of the most spectacular sceneries of Mallorca. Visit to Puerto de Alcudia followed by a visit to a ceramic shop in Manacor before returning to Pinos Playa. Palma-Valldemosa Excursion Departure From the Pinos Playa with a bus, visiting Palma Cathedral and its Old Quarter, after that these will be time for shopping. Then a visit to Bellver Castle before going to Valldemossa with a visit to the charterhouse where Chopin stayed. Free time to visit the village. Return with a bus. Palma aquarium A spectacular marine park that faithfully recreates sea and oceanic habitats and ecosystems. An exceptional range of flora and fauna from the Mediterranean Sea and the Indian, Atlantic and Pacific Oceans. 8000 specimens from 700 different species in 5 million litres of seawater. Departure from Pinos Playa with a bus to Porto Cristo to visit the Caves of Drach with the biggest underwater lake in Europe. Here is a trip by boat and a short concert of music from Chopin, taking advantage of the excellent acoustics in the cave. Afterwards, there is a visit to the pearl factory in Manacor before returning to Pinos Playa. Mallorca Balloons Take a trip in a balloon, skimming through the sky over Mallorca, seeing it in all its beauty and all its loveliest corners and no traffic! Rock Climbing It is possible to go rock climbing in the cove of Cala Santanyí itself whereas on the other side, (with the old watch tower), there is a cliff with more than 25 well equipped routes, with levels from 4a to the most difficult at 8a. This is one of the most important rock climbing areas on Mallorca.

There are some very interesting places that can be visited by mountain bike: In Santanyí the Wednesday and Saturday market from 08.00 am. to 12.00 am., the Church with its old organ built by Jordi Bosch in the 17th. century and the Porta Murada which is all that remains of the wall which encircled the old quarter of the town. Santuario de Consolació: From Santanyí in the direction of Alquería Blanca, half way along the road there is a turning to the left which leads up to this small monastery, at a height of some 205 meters above sea level, with a very attractive view of the districts around Santanyí and its nearby coves and bays. On a clear and sunny day you can see Cabrera, the smallest of the Balearic Islands. There is a chapel with a statue of Our Lady of Consolación and a large lounge and an outside courtyard with a well with drinking water. There are no bars or any other type of business. Visitors go there to enjoy the excursion, the beautiful pine woods, the natural surroundings and to breathe the fresh air. Cala Figuera This is a very pittoresque fishing port and one of the most visited on Mallorca, particularly by painters from all over Spain and Europe. There is a wooden promenade around the port which can only be followed on foot; and better not forget to take your camera with you! Cala Mondragó Three kilometers from Cala Figuera, going in the eastern direction, are two beaches with very few buildings, joined by a promenade on the edge of the beach. There is a beach bar where they serve sandwiches and drinks. It is a protected natural area Cala Llombards It is the closest cove to Cala Santanyí and is some 30 minutes away by foot. It has a sandy beach and there are no hotels, so it is very peaceful. Cala S'Almonia & es Calo d'es Moro To the south of Cala Llombards, it is very pittoresque and quiet. There is very little construction and there are no bars or restaurants. The waters are very clear and nature is still pristine. It has two small sandy beaches as well as an old fishing port and it adjoins Es Rafal and S'Avall which is a protected natural area. Cabo Salinas Located in the south of the Island, it can be reached by a very quiet road with not much traffic. Apart from the lighthouse, it is totally unspoilt. Some 15 minutes by foot along the sea edge, in a western direction, you reach the beaches of "Es Caracol" and "Es Carbo" which are also unspoilt.
